Overcast

This is what today looked like.
Overcast and a bit melancholy, as if contemplating the end of summer.

Feathers and Crystals Flower Headpiece

This veiled headpiece was a recent custom order for an August bride.
The stark white flower has crystals in the centre, ranging from clear to silver. The headpiece also has handmade tulle leaves, immaculate white feathers and white Russian veil. The picture hardly does it justice.
The bride, I'm happy to say, loved it!

Cherry Red Flower Mini Pouch Necklace

This little pouch pendant is one of a series made with natural cotton canvas and deep cherry red embellishments.

I love this combination of colours and I love the contrast of the 'plain' cotton canvas with the rich satin of the flower and the dupioni silk of the narrow bow.

I made these little pendants with the intention of having the little pouch to carry a keepsake or good luck charm with you at all times.

I'd actually also like these attached to a plain clothespin. To pin onto a jacket or top.

Country Road

There's nothing like driving down winding country roads on a hot summer day!
The distinct smell of the greek countryside which is a unique mix of native herbs, shrubs, greenery, hot earth and dry grass is as intoxicating as the scenery.

Miniature Bag in Red and White

Handmade miniature bag in natural cotton canvas with red flower and pom pom details.

A whimsical little handbag for a doll's outfit or for a little girl to play with.

It measures about 8 cm or 3 inches across - that's counting the floral and ribbon embellishments.

Mini Shantung Silk Pouch Pendant

These little silk pouches are destined to become pendants in a series of textile necklaces that I'm working onThey're made from shantung silk which is an absolute favourite fabric of mine to work with and this particular one is a shade of subtly shimmering gold which I adore!
They're already in various stages of embellishment.

Large White Organza Hair Clip

Made with delicate, slightly off-white organza, bridal white tulle and gently shimmering golden glass beads in the centre, this flower hair clip was a custom order for a June bride.
It's quite large as it measures about 10cm across but, despite its size, it's as light as a feather.

Coral Summer Earrings

There's been a flurry of creative activity in these parts lately and I've been making all sorts of things, including bags, pouches, necklaces and earrings.

These are the coral organza earrings I made the other day and I have already given them to a friend. The colour is so very bright and cheery and just perfect for summer.
Now I want to make some blue and yellow ones....

Evil Eye Bag in Denim

Large denim shoulder tote bag with evil eye.

This is the second eye bag to be finished. (You can see the first one here.) There's more of them being made, in various states of assembly.

This bag is pretty big.
It measures 38cm or 15 inches across and 42cm or almost 17 inches from top of the bag to the bottom.
The shoulder strap, measured from one edge of the bag to the other is 50cm or less than 20 inches.

I've used all-natural fabrics again and made the lining inside more colourful and fun with 2 contrasting cotton prints: animal print (you can see it peeking out in the photos) and red and white stripes. The pictures I took of the inside with it's pockets and magnetic snap closure didn't turn out so I'm not sharing any of them in this post.

This bag is made to be practical, so it has pockets both inside and out.
It's got one large pouch-like pocket on the outside that can hold a bunch of things. It's also got various pockets inside, including an extra large zippered pocket and 3 smaller ones.
